. and he swept all of the big battleground states. florida, ohio, and yes, virginia barely. now listen to this -- [ cheering and applause ] now that is the sound of wild cheers of the obama victory rally in chicago as the newly re-elected president walked out to deliver his victory speech around 1:40 this morning. in it he thanked the nearly 158 million americans that voted for him especially since some people waited in line for several hours to vote. he even mentioned it in his speech by saying quote by the way, we have got to fix that. now in regards to his opponent the president not only congratulated governor romney on a hard fought campaign, he wants to sit down with him in the weeks ahead to talk about working together to move forward. >> i believe we can seize this future together. because we are not as divided as our politics suggest. we're not as cynical as the pundits believe. we are greater than the sum of our individual ambitions and we remain more than a collection of red states and blue states. we are and forever will be the united states of america.
